We are recruiting a Maintenance Technician to join our friendly, skilled team, who provide maintenance and repair services across 40+ properties. 

A Wilderness Way have over 44 children’s residential care homes within Cumbria and Northumberland. We offer short-term crisis intervention for children who have suffered adverse childhood trauma. Our teams are dedicated and professional, working together to transform the lives of the children we look after. 

•    Your hours of work are, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with a degree of flexibility required.

•    Van and equipment provided. 

•    Your holiday entitlement is 33 days per annum,

Your role and responsibilities as Maintenance Technician

•    Minor building, plumbing, Carpentry and Painting and decorating.

•    Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies.

•    Fixing or replacing any fixtures, fittings, etc. within the properties.

•    General internal and external decoration.

•    Grounds Maintenance.


Essential qualities that we look for, 

•    Good all-round maintenance or construction skills.  

•    Is enthusiastic, tenacious and has a strong attention to detail.

•    Comfortable using a variety of tools.

•    Can trouble shoot, using one’s initiative.

•    Happy to ‘roll their sleeves up’ and get stuck into helping with all aspects of our maintenance teams jobs and able to problem solve.

•    Is an enthusiastic team player, but also comfortable working on their own.

•    A full, valid, UK Driving licence and access to a vehicle. 


All roles will be subject to a successful disclosure at an appropriate level from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), Access NI or Disclosure Scotland as we follow safer recruitment processes.
