Senior Residential Support Worker

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

Imagine if you could change someone's life.  Being a Senior Residential Support Worker at A Wilderness Way means just that.  Your skills and experience can truly transform our children’s lives.  Our Senior Residential Support Workers go above and beyond to help children who have experienced a difficult past to forge positive pathways towards a brighter future.

Main Responsibility

We pride ourselves on our sector-leading provision and our commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for the children we look after. As such, we seek the highest calibre SRSW’s who truly have a passion for helping children, as well as the skills and personal qualities to lead others.

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, you will be the lead practitioner on shift.  You will mentor, support and coach new team members and draw upon your extensive experience to manage any challenges that may arise.  No two days are the same.  If you enjoy problem-solving and have confidence in your ability to make a difference to a child's life, then please apply.

For our children, you will provide emotional support, establish strong relationships, boundaries and routines, and create a warm and nurturing home environment. You will promote each child needs, champion them, and support them to fulfil their potential as a good parent would. Whether this means getting involved in cooking, sports, outdoor adventures, music, or even getting a manicure, you will engage the children, open them up to new experiences and nurture their self-esteem and confidence.

Our homes operate on a ratio of 2:1. You will work collaboratively with our education, therapy and outdoor teams as well as colleagues from the wider sector, keeping the children at the heart of all you do. You will have the support of a dedicated, compassionate, like-minded team, who are all committed to the achievement and wellbeing of both our children and everyone in the AWW community.

The Ideal Candidate

You will already have achieved your Level 3 Diploma or equivalent in Children and Young People’s Workforce. Ideally you will have experience in the Residential Children's Services sector, or have worked in a similar setting working with children with challenging behaviour.

This role offers a great work- life balance with our condensed working rota and sleep-ins.  Shifts start between 8am and 9am, and you'll need a willingness to work early, late and night shifts. Above all, we really want like-minded, passionate people who truly want to make a difference.

We are an equal opportunities employer and have a commitment to safeguarding children; we follow safer recruitment processes. All roles will be subject to a successful disclosure at an appropriate level from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), Access NI or Disclosure Scotland.
